JANUARY
Cultural Events: New Year’s Day, Global – January 1st

With the global travel industry set to grow at a faster pace than the global economy in the next ten years, according to the WTM Global Travel Report in association with Tourism Economics, now is the perfect time for you as travel agents to capitalise on those resolutions to travel more.
Today’s traveller is looking for unique travel experiences and is increasingly driven by authentic connection to their chosen destination, so it's critical that you can provide what today's travellers are looking for when you're building their ideal itineraries. FEBRUARY
Sporting Events: Winter Olympic Games, Italy - 6th – 22nd February
The 2026 Winter Olympics in the stunning Dolomites offer a major booking opportunity for travel agents due to the influx of visitors, athletes, and spectators, driving high demand for flights, accommodations, transportation, and packages. Last year’s Summer Olympics in Greater Paris attracted around 11.2 million visitors, with 3 million staying overnight, and millions more attending related events and fan zones, highlighting the scale of Olympic and sporting tourism.
By promoting tailored experiences, such as guided tours of the area, immersive experiences that highlight the local culture – offered in our Booking Engine – you can appeal to travellers who are looking to make the most of their time outside the scheduled events. Why not consider a remote retreat in the heart of the mountains? Or if they want to turn their hand at scaling the slopes for themselves?
Similarly, the Winter Paralympic Games taking place over March 6th – 15th, also in the Dolomites, further extends the opportunity to attract travellers seeking a more bespoke, luxurious experience. This is a key chance to capture travellers with a more bespoke trip in mind, and you can use our Luxury Collection, a portfolio of memorable luxury hotels in global destinations offering exclusive perks and VIP treatment.
Encourage travellers to extend their trip to nearby regions in Italy, to savour the authentic appeal of this destination, and curate their perfect itinerary with our portfolio of memorable stays and experiences.
Sporting Events: Super Bowl LX, USA – 8th February
Set at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the Super Bowl is not only a highly anticipated annual event but also an unmissable opportunity for travel sellers. Last year, the Super Bowl generated approximately $1.25 billion in total economic activity across Louisiana, making it one of the most financially impactful events ever. Out-of-state visitors who attended the games spent between $5,500-$5,550 each, and visitors who did not attend the game but travelled for related festivities spent about $4,200-$4,250. The high demand for accommodation often leads to inflated prices, but travellers are willing to pay extra for the thrill of experiencing the game firsthand.
To maximise revenue, travel agents should offer comprehensive packages, including airport transfers and in-destination experiences, encouraging longer stays to fully enjoy California’s attractions beyond the game itself. So, while you’re selling your travellers their perfect hotel, consider the benefits of also offering them a transfer to and from the airport, and any additional in-destination experiences they may want for any time outside of the match.
Plus, the Super Bowl’s halftime show featuring Bad Bunny further increases its appeal, drawing music enthusiasts and international tourists alike. The global music tourism market is projected to reach around $12.58-$14 billion by 2033, with artists like Bad Bunny significantly boosting tourism in destinations such as Puerto Rico and Mexico City. Following his recent residency announcement in Puerto Rico, flight interest surged over 7x from the previous week, primarily from US and LATAM markets.
The Super Bowl therefore presents a prime opportunity for travel sellers to capitalise on the rising demand for music tourism, alongside the sporting excitement, and offer tailored experiences that attract diverse travellers.
Cultural Events: Valentine’s Day, Global – February 14th
As one of the most widely celebrated days of love, Valentine’s Day takes on different meanings around the world and is an incredible opportunity for travel sellers to capitalise on increased demand for romantic getaways.
Of course, there are a few destinations that immediately spring to mind when Valentine’s Day is mentioned, and experiences that all travellers looking for something a little special could be enticed into booking.
Whether it's a lantern-lit boat ride in Hoi An’s canals, an evening in awe over the Northern Lights in Finland, an Italian romance minus the crowds in the Dolomites, or even a cherry-blossom-filled stay in Okinawa, where Japan’s iconic blooms begin to decorate the scenery from February.
Discover some of the best alternative destinations for Valentine’s Day here!
Top tip: South Korea took the idea of Valentine’s Day and really ran with it, celebrating the 14th of each month with a different kind of love or friendship-themed holiday! So for any clients looking to escape the crowds on Valentine’s Day but still celebrate, there’s plenty of opportunity here...
Cultural Events: Chinese New Year, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia – 17th February – 3rd March
Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, typically begins around the second new moon after the winter solstice, with this year’s celebration falling around February 17th. As the Year of the Horse in 2025, communities worldwide will embrace a variety of traditions, from fireworks and fortune-telling to festive foods like golden spring rolls symbolising wealth, and long noodles called Changshou mian representing wishes for a long, healthy life. This vibrant holiday offers a rich cultural experience, making it a must-see for those with Chinese heritage or an appreciation for Chinese traditions, and a captivating event for international travellers eager to partake in the festivities.
Celebrated not only in China but across the globe, Chinese New Year’s lively celebrations are especially prominent in regions with significant Chinese communities, including Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, and Australia and more. In London alone, festivities are expected to attract large crowds, creating memorable experiences for both locals and visitors. As one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture, Chinese New Year provides travel sellers with an excellent opportunity to promote cultural experiences, unique events, and festive packages that appeal to travellers seeking an authentic and memorable celebration.
Cultural Events: Ramadan/Eid al-Fitr, Global Muslim observation – 17th/18th February – 18th/19th March, Eid 19th – 20th March
Ramadan and Eid, a month-long religious observance during which Muslims abstain from food and drink during daylight hours, drives increased demand for travel as people visit family, friends, or go on vacations, leading to higher bookings for flights, hotels, and transportation.
The festive season encourages family reunions and celebrations, especially in countries where these occasions are most celebrated. Travel agents can offer special packages, discounts, and culturally tailored experiences, particularly for domestic trips, with many travellers planning their journeys well in advance.
Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan and falling this year on the evening of March 19th-20th, typically sees members of the Muslim community on the move to be with loved ones during the three-day festivities. To maximise this demand, travel agents should prepare and market offers early, as flights and accommodations are likely to book out quickly.
This culturally significant period creates a high-demand window, providing an excellent opportunity to deliver meaningful travel experiences that resonate with travellers’ traditions, while also boosting business success.

MARCH
Cultural Events: Sakura season, Japan – March – May
As Japan has risen to the top of many global travel lists in recent years, acclaimed by publications like National Geographic and Lonely Planet, the country is set to see a surge in bookings around the iconic cherry blossom season.
Popular cities such as Kyoto, Himeji, and Tokyo are top destinations for viewing sakura, but quieter spots like Kawaguchiko and Kushiro also offer stunning, less crowded experiences. Travellers and travel sellers should monitor the Japanese Weather Association for forecasts, as the sakura season spans from March to May, creating a flexible window for planning visits.
Additionally, Hana Mitsuri, or the ‘Flower Festival,’ occurs during this period, celebrating Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and death, symbolising the fleeting nature of life reflected in the transient cherry blossoms. This year, Hana Mitsuri falls on April 8th, providing another excellent opportunity for travel sellers to capitalise on the transformation of Japan’s landscapes and cityscapes alike, drawing tourists eager to see this iconic sight.
However, Japan is not the only place to see the world-famous cherry blossoms.
Take a look at our article on some of the best places to see cherry blossoms around the world that aren’t Japan – including South Korea, Thailand, Brazil, Paris, Vancouver, Auckland and more!
Cultural Events: Holi, Hindu – March 14th
The Hindu ‘festival of colours’ is a unique cultural experience with undeniable allure: while Holi is rooted in ancient, meaningful traditions and beliefs (it is said to be a celebration of the victory of good over evil), it is also a fun and festive event.
Host countries such as India and Nepal burst into life around the beginning of March as coloured powder and water is thrown between attendees in a joyful and lively atmosphere. Marking the beginning of Spring, Holi is also an opportunity for those of the Hindu faith (or respectful observers) to let go of any long-held grudges, instead choosing to forgive, forget, and indulge in food such as dahi vada and ladoos.

APRIL
Cultural Events: Songkran, Thailand – April 13th – 15th
Thailand is endlessly popular with tourists from around the world, and it’s easy to see why: the ‘land of smiles’ is blessed with natural beauty ripe for exploration; additionally, the country has introduced the world to a myriad of amazing things, ranging from delicious cuisine to Muay Thai, the popular (and sometimes brutal) national sport. But it’s Thailand’s culture which most captures the imagination – just look at the dazzling Grand Palace in Bangkok.
The three-day event involves cleansing rituals and an enormous water fight that is sure to be a memorable experience! The biggest celebrations take place in Bangkok, and you can suggest a tour of the capital's major sights to round out the trip.
Commercial Events: Golden Week, Japan – April 29th – May 6th
Golden Week is a term which refers to consecutive holidays in its host country: for example, in China, the occasion may fall in January, February, September or October. However, over in Japan, Golden Week takes place across numerous fixed dates, beginning with Showa Day on April 29th, which marks the birthday of former Emperor Showa.
Due to the succession of other public holidays (Constitution Memorial Day; Greenery Day; Children’s Day), the whole period is an opportune time for Japanese travellers to be on the move. Domestic travel is incredibly popular during this time, but for international visitors, this is also a key time to make the most of Hana Matsuri and Sakura (Cherry Blossom) season, as long as they’re mindful of any local business closures.

MAY
Cultural Events: Cinco de Mayo, Mexico, US – May 5th
Cinco de Mayo is a day of Mexican pride and heritage and is steeped in history, as a celebration which commemorates the Mexican Army’s victory over the French empire on May 5th 1862. Many communities celebrate this event on a grand scale, with parades, battle re-enactments, mariachi music, traditional foods, piñatas pinatas and fireworks to mark the celebration.
Cinco de Mayo is one of the most popular times for travellers to Mexico, to witness the heart of this occasion at its most traditional – so be prepared to promote activities and hotels in Mexico, as well as popular US destinations that celebrate to the fullest such as Los Angeles, San Antonio, Denver, New York City, Chicago, Albuquerque, San Francisco and San Diego!
Cultural Events: Spring Break, US – March – April, early May
Widely celebrated in the United States, Spring Break is one of the most popular times for US-based travellers to pack their bags and head out in search of memorable experiences. Millions of travellers set on domestic and international journeys during this period last year, with strong demand seen in the US and UK, particularly for international destinations like the Caribbean, Mexico, and Italy; airlines like United expect millions of passengers and seeing busy periods around March.
It’s estimated that for US travellers, over 30% of millennials and parents planned trips around this time, with high interest in sunny domestic spots like Orlando, Las Vegas, and Cancun, alongside a rise in adventure travel. While in the UK, around 77% planned summer travel, with significant interest in international trips and cooler climates in Northern Europe.
Be sure to capture this opportunity early, as many travellers are increasingly booking in advance and this high travel intent period will sell fast!

JUNE
Entertainment Events: Festival Season, Global – June - August
June is the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and with hotter weather comes the desire to spend as much time outdoors as possible!
One way of making the most of warmer climes is to attend a music festival, and with world-renowned events such as Primavera Sound (Barcelona), Glastonbury (Somerset) and Rock am Ring (Nürburgring) attracting fans from around the globe, this is a fantastic opportunity for agents to present themselves as the go-to for travel arrangements.
Similarly, attendees travelling from outside of the festival’s host country will likely want to make the most of their time, so consider recommending hotels and upselling activities via our Booking Engine.
Industry Events – World Environment Day, Global – June 5th
World Environment Day encourages people to make conscious choices that benefit the planet, and with around 70% of Millennial and Gen Z travellers are considering eco-friendly options, and 54% willing to pay more for green choices, this is an important date to consider how you’re accommodating sustainable travel, and to advocate for this to your prospective customers to secure those bookings.
Our Sustainable Hotels Programme, as a portfolio of certified sustainable hotels, was established to:
- Offer hotels around the world a platform to showcase their dedication to changing the way we travel.
- Embrace the increasing importance of environmentally conscious choices for travellers.
- Make it easier for our registered partners to incorporate these eco-friendly choices into their booking process.
These hotels are only shown in our ‘Sustainable Hotels’ filter in our travel booking platform if they have sustainable certification – provided by industry-leading organisations such as the World Tourism and Trade Council (WTTC) and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) - meaning they're guaranteed to offer peace of mind for your clients. Find these hotels by using the ‘Sustainable Hotels’ filter in our Booking Engine.

Cultural Events: Summer Solstice, Global – June 21st
Astro-tourism is set to be an enduring travel trend and key motivator for travel bookings in 2026 and beyond, so working with a travel partner that offers unique experiences like star gazing, star bathing, silent travel or even live music performances to make the most of the extended daylight will help you appeal to travellers looking to soak up the power of the solstice this year.
You could consider offering travel plans that centre around ‘Solstice Escapes’, wellness programmes provided by specialist centres or hotels around the world, with experiences like sunrise yoga, guided nature walks, al fresco dining, and more.
What about a more specific recommendation?:
Stonehenge, England - Travellers can visit Stonehenge on the summer (and winter) solstice to experience the sunrise, Druid ceremony, and festivities in an event that only happens twice a year. Plus, Stonehenge is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a Neolithic monument, with deep cultural significance and alignment with the solstice.
Inti Raymi, Peru: Taking place around the same time (on June 24th) the 'Sun Festival' in Peru is considered the largest celebration of the Inca Empire. Held in honour of Inti, the Sun God, this long-standing festival lasts for 9 days and involves stunning dances, traditional music and performances.

Entertainment Events: Comic-Con International, USA – 22nd – 26th July
Fandom Tourism is one of the key travel trends we think will take over 2026 and beyond. Gaming is now a $222 billion global industry and with 70% of gaming fans willing to travel for conventions, demand for fandom and gaming experiences continues to grow - this is where travel sellers can benefit.
This trend makes Comic-Con International, and related events like this throughout the year, ideal events for travel agents to offer tailored packages, including accommodations and in-destination activities – as well as partnership opportunities for exclusive access or ticket passes. As the event expands, especially in 2026, agents can leverage this momentum to attract bookings from passionate fans eager for immersive pop culture and gaming adventures.
Plus, curated experiences that allow travellers to explore the city and nearby areas outside of the event schedule itself will enable agents to tap into this thriving, engaged audience of fandom travellers.

OCTOBER
Cultural Events: Mid-Autumn Festival, China – 25th September
Mid-Autumn Festival lunar calendar is the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, but the date on the Gregorian calendar varies every year; the Mid-Autumn Day 2025 falls on 25th September.
As the second most important celebration on the Chinese calendar – after Chinese New Year – this festival began as a celebration of the moon and has a tradition of deity, but it is also a time to reconnect with family members; it’s also called Mooncake Festival, or Moon Festival. This event is normally celebrated by gathering around a meal, worshipping and giving thanks to the moon, lighting paper candles and releasing them with loved ones, friends and family, eating delicious moon cakes and more!
This celebration is also widely celebrated in other countries such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, America, Singapore and Malaysia, although it is not always a public holiday in these locations.
In South Korea, Chuseok is celebrated at the same time, from 24th - 26th September. Known as Harvest Festival or Mid-Autumn Festival as well, this is a significant time within Korean culture and is spent giving thanks, celebrating with lots of delicious food, and gathering with loved ones, friends and family.
However do consider that Chuseok is a public holiday, so for travellers wishing to truly experience South Korea during this time, it is well worth arriving a few days before this annual celebration begins, in order to prepare accordingly! Arranging some in-destination experiences, tours and activities before Chuseok begins will be key, and it’s best to plan ahead using our Booking Engine.

The holiday honours the dead with colourful altars, traditional food and lively parades, creating a feast for the senses. This is a great opportunity for your clients to learn about Mexican culture and traditions, and to immerse in the rich and vibrant atmosphere of the celebration!
Top tip: While traditionally celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November, other days including October 31st and November 6th may be included depending on the locality.
Cultural Events: Thanksgiving, US – November 27th
A feast-time for travel, Thanksgiving is a prime opportunity to tap into travel demand. This holiday sees roughly 55 million American travellers make the pilgrimage to their destination of choice, be that domestic or international.
Unsurprisingly, domestic travel is king during Thanksgiving: supported by a general preference for domestic travel year-round, the notion of togetherness is a major driver for travel over this period, presenting an opportunity for upselling via add-ons, such as car hire.
Similarly, international travel presents an alternate opportunity: owing to slashed airfares (a typical practice by airlines around this particular holiday), your clients could snatch a deal - so consider sweetening it further with offers on other parts of their itinerary, such as their hotel stay. Besides, who is to say that new Thanksgiving traditions can’t be made outside of the US?
Commercial Events: Black Friday, Global – November 28th
While Black Friday isn’t strictly about travel, it’s certainly worth building offers and social media campaigns around. Like Singles Day in Asia, Buen Fin in the Americas, and Travel Tuesday (the Tuesday after Black Friday) this is one commercial holiday that travel agents would be wise to mark in their calendar since tourists will be on the lookout for good deals.
Check out our quick guide to preparing for Black Friday travel marketing, to inspire your own offers!

DECEMBER
Cultural Events: Winter Solstice, Global – December 21st
The winter solstice is the shortest day and longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It always occurs between December 21 and 23, and the date changes each year! This year, it falls on the 21st December.
UK: Instead of the busy Stonehenge, send travellers to Newgrange in Ireland for a lottery for travellers to witness the sunrise light the inner chamber of this ancient passage tomb; in Carn Kenidjack, Cornwall, visitors can witness a sunrise framed by ancient stones; and the Montol Festival in Penzance, Cornwall features colourful costumes, torchlit parades and Celtic dancing.
For international trips and festivities, travellers can celebrate in:
Japan: with Yuzu baths for purification at various temples for Toji, Japan’s term for the Solstice, as well as enjoying local customs like eating foods for fortune, either with friends or in locally-run homestays.
Guatemala: for Fiesta de Santo Tomas, a week-long festival vibrant celebration honouring the town's patron saint, Santo Tomás, and which coincides with the Winter Solstice. Travellers can expect a unique blend of Catholic and traditional K'iche' Maya beliefs, with dances, parades with masked figures (like the Baile del Tzijolaj), Palo Volador (Flying Pole Dance), fireworks, and copal incense.
Iceland: offer a winter tour package to experience the country's natural beauty during the colder months, and maybe travellers will welcome in the arrival of longer, warmer days with the Aurora Borealis.
Cultural Events: Christmas, Global – December 25th
Unsurprisingly, the lead-up to Christmas is a significant time for tourism for countries that celebrate this date: this is a time of year when people are looking to spend time with their loved ones and create special memories.
Whether travelling home to be with loved ones or to experience different traditions, such as European Christmas markets or larger-than-life parades in destinations such as the United States, it’s highly likely that you’ll have clients who are desperate to get on the move.
Where possible, try to encourage your clients to book their December trips well in advance – hotels are likely to be in high demand, and flight prices will increase rapidly.
Cultural Events: New Year’s Eve, Global – December 31st
And so, the cycle begins again…but perhaps your clients are already planning ahead for New Year 2025? After all, what could be better than having a celebration to look forward to at the end of another year! If your customers are eager to make the most of the next 12 months of travel, consider planting the seed for a big, end-of-year blowout.
