Andrew Boocock, Sourcing Regional Manager, leads the sourcing team in Pacific in ensuring travel agents get access to relevant hotel products with competitive rates and availability not only in major cities but also in regional areas.
Read below and discover how the sourcing team has changed its focus to meet the demand for domestic products.
"Throughout 2020, the sourcing team in the Pacific have undertaken a significant shift in the way that we ensure that our contracted hotel product is more relevant for the domestic customer. Initially, this required a shift in attention to our “core” hotels to ensure that the level of attention and focus of our team was aligned with the demanded hotels for our domestic clients. This attention has seen a shift in focus towards regional areas such as Bryon Bay, Broome, Port Macquarie, and Port Douglas. With interstate borders now reopening (and hopefully staying open) in Australia, we are seeing a return in demand to our more traditional destinations of Sydney, Gold Coast, and the Great Barrier Reef. The domestic uptake from the New Zealand market has been influenced around holiday periods and is much slower than Australia at this stage.”
“A further focus has been on improving and updating our hotel content for display on Bedsonline. This includes accurate room type names, occupancies, images and descriptions to be aligned with the hotel’s online presence. Additionally, the volatile nature of the market has seen hotels required to provide added flexibility in the way that adjust rates and cancellation policies. This has seen a further shift towards dynamic rates often being the most competitive. Our focus has been to ensure that you are provided with all levels of dynamic rates including packaged rates, non-refundable rates, and members rates where these are available.”
